Interview with John Davis by Holly Matson

 Holly: I am speaking today with John Davis, who is a metaphysical speaker, teacher and healer, and also the subject of the upcoming book called John of Old, John of New - The Awakening of An Apostle. John, for those who don't know, why did you come out now with your story?

John: I came out now because of the fact that for many years I have tried to deny this story, and every time I tried to set it aside and go away from it, God would come back into my life and hit me with what my friend Atira calls a cosmic two by four. The most recent was I was having a moment of doubt, and after numerous signs for decades, I had another moment of doubt and I was driving down the road, and I said I just need a sign, God, just give me a sign. I came to a red light and looked to the right and there was a giant billboard, and the only words on the entire billboard were Saint John. So I said Yay, he gave me a sign - a billboard on the side of the road!

Holly: Why do you think you? Why are you, if you want to say, chosen for this role, or why did you choose this role?

John: That's an interesting way to say it, that you are chosen and you choose. I believe that you have the experience brought to you and it is your free will or choice to experience what you wish. So, why was I chosen? God only knows! [chuckles] God only knows the reason why I was chosen. Why did I choose it? Because I have seen so many amazing things in my life, from miraculous healings, to apparitions, angels working with people, I've seen apparitions of Mary several times now. But I think the most important reason why I choose and continue to choose...which is the most interesting thing to say there...is I continue to choose it every day because we all have our own fears, and every so often my fears will tell me are you sure you're not crazy? And I look back and, the things that I've seen really tell me I have to continue on this path. And that's why I've decide to come out now. There comes a point in your life, especially in this kind of life, this kind of spiritual life I seem to be leading now, that you really are given no choice. I did choose it, but when you see people who have brain tumors no longer have brain tumors, or lupus and no longer have lupus, a man with a blind eye receive sight, a lady with spider cancer completely healed, an eight year old girl with brain damage who lost all short term memory, in five minutes have her short term memory, and muscular dystrophy and so many others with these experiences that these people are coming to me with, and then walking away from me....and I say me...they come to me, John Davis' physical body but it's not John Davis doing the work, it's a higher power, more divine, working through me.

Holly: I think some of what you are addressing is going to be very controversial for people who are new to this topic of reincarnation, and especially with the idea that you've come out saying you were the reincarnation of John the Beloved. What do you say to people who say this is like a Cleopatra complex, that you have a vivid imagination?

John: It's very funny...I have had that several times, people saying why weren't you Bob the stone carver, or the guy who digs rubble in the fields. What I find in my personal life is that I had no belief in reincarnation, and I had no belief in psychics, or in any of this "woo-woo" stuff at all, and when all my friends started having a reading from Sharon, they were all coming back with these amazing stories of how she'd changed their lives, and I said okay I'll give it a shot and I went and I had this reading, and in that first reading she broke into a smile and said they're telling me you walked with Jesus. You know that when you hear truth you feel it in your heart. When she said those words I knew it was true, and that was the most bizarre thing for me, because I knew that was true as opposed to someone telling me that it is true. We had that second reading and in the reading, Jeshua allowed me to see him in the actual reading. And then once again, since then I've gone back and looked at my life, and back when I was in my early twenties, before I believed in any of this, I had a moment of feeling the presence of Jesus, or the divinity of God...because I believe that Jesus is an example of that as I believe also Buddha and all the avatars of all the various religions and prophets and messiahs...I felt Jesus come into my body and I recognized him back then before any of this. I actually said out loud Jesus is that you? and He let me feel him again. This was long before any of my awakening into my past life stuff. And then after thirteen different psychics told me about the same past life, I finally did go get a regression and I remembered it all. For anybody who has had a regression, they can tell you that sometimes in a past life regression, you open up a channel to that past life and sometimes that channel stays open. What happened to me is that bridge between this life and that life occasionally snaps open again, and I still see glimpses of that life. Usually it's when I have a huge emotional reaction or connection to something, I will snap into the emotion of that life...that same emotion in that life. So there has to be some sort of bridge that will tie the two together.

So what can I say for all the people who think I'm crazy? I think I'm crazy too! [chuckles] - I'm totally insane! I was raised as a Catholic, and my mother is so Catholic she starts her prayers with "as long as I'm in the neighborhood"! What's interesting now is that she looks back at the coincidences of it all and she's amazed by it.

Holly: Well then, if you were raised Catholic, and you talk about the other masters, or whatever term you care to use for the spiritually ascended ones, do you feel you have a religion now? What religion...do you preach a religion in your speaking?

John: I do not preach any religion, I am a spiritual person not a religious person. I believe that religions in general are limiting. I believe that Jesus himself - I say Jesus and Jeshua, you may notice that I use both names - John Davis is so used to calling him Jesus because his mother told him it was Jesus, so I constantly use Jesus, but every so often I blurt out Jeshua, and I'm not doing it intentionally, but when I think of different aspects of self it just comes out that way - but I believe that Jesus didn't preach a religion either, I believe Jesus talked about finding the divine within yourself. He always spoke of things that would be empowering yourself. Even if you look at what's in the Bible now, you've got "Greater works than I have done you will do," "it is your faith that heals you," and then in the Gnostic Scriptures, you've got "The kingdom of God is within you." I truly believe that his purpose here was to give us an example to follow. When he said I am The Way, The Truth and The Life, he was living The Way, he was living the Truth, and he was the Life that we're all supposed to do and become. But I also believe that he reached a form of enlightenment that Buddha reached and all the enlightened ones of our time. If you go back and you look at what all the prophets and messiahs say, the all say pretty much the same thing. It's the cultural dogmas that actually get in the way of the true message, and the true message is that God is Love, and if God is Love then what are we? As part of God we ARE love. My firmest and truest belief is that we cannot experience love without knowing the contrast. And so you have love and you have fear and fear is the contrast. A lot of people say it's hate, but no, hate is the product of fear. What's interesting and what came to light in the regression is that fear is a gift from God or the Divine or the Universal Consciousness or whatever you call it, fear was gift the to allow us to experience God fully. God gave us fear, he, she, whatever you want to call her, him, he gave us fear and he or she said play with it, enjoy it and you can go as far away from love as you want so you can experience how divine God truly is. What happens with us is that we get mired in our fears and weighed down in our fears, and we finally get stuck down in our fears and comfortable in our fears so far that we actually have separated too far from the god source and the love of the divine, and that's when we have our issues in life, where people who want to have that feeling of that divine love will then step out and find some way of creating that vibration within themselves, and usually that's when they go into drinking or drugs or any kind of addiction, sexual addiction, those are feeling creators, they're trying to create the feeling of the divine energy of God. And what happens is that they create this feeling of joy for a brief moment. Joy is a product of love and so for a brief moment they get a feeling of it and then they go back into their fears. And so they get mired down there, and that's why they become addicted, because they actually found something that gives them a touch of the divine and lets them step away from their fears for a moment. That's what I preach, if I preach at all (chuckles).

Holly: To kind of revisit a little an issue I brought up earlier, why do you think now specifically, what in the world climate is there that might have caused this to all happen now?

John: Well, it's interesting you say that, because that has a lot to do with linear time I guess. As I tend to believe, right now we have a lot of people who are becoming enlightened, searching for more in their life, and the world has become very polarized in their various aspects of religion and their choices. And right now I believe that people lie Wayne Dyer, Deepak Choprah, the Dalai Lama are all coming out with these wonderful speeches and books and audio tapes and things because that message needs to come out right now to show the unity of us all. Because in essence we are all one, and we're coming to a point in our life where there are so many different factions on earth who think they're right, and what's interesting is that in some aspect, they are. They're all right. They all believe that their messiah their prophets are the ones who are right. But guess what, they were, but they all were. That's the issue we're creating in our world. Why am I awakening right now? Only God can say, I don't have the...(chuckles)...He comes when He wants to come and however He calls and whoever He wants to call, and I questioned it for a long time, as to why me, why now. And I also would question after coming to an understanding of past life, whether it was in this life that I should do this work. It comes, as I said earlier, it comes to a point where so many things happen you just can't deny it any more.

Holly: I wanted to ask about your message and your biblical connections with your past life, hard on the heels of the popularity books like The Messengers covering Nick Bunic's life and his coincidences and his life as Saul. What do you think people would say about your coming out with sort of a similar book now, and telling your tale now, and what do you want people to gain from the book John of Old, John of New? [by Sharon Prince]

John: What do I think of me coming out with this book now? Well, it wasn't a choice, it was literally that's what happened in my life and that's what I had to release. There was no marketing thought about it. Actually what's interesting about that book The Messengers is, as I was being awakened through Sharon and her readings, between the first reading and the second reading, I kept seeing this book on a shelf over and over and over again, and every time I picked up that book and look at it, I'd put it back down because it looked like a "girly frufru" book [chuckles], and I would say "Aw why am I looking at this, it's all pastels and angels." It wasn't my cup of tea in any way shape or form. But I kept picking it up wherever I went and finally I had that first reading, where they said "they're telling me that you walked with Jesus." I was in Rehobeth Beach, Delaware, and I walked into a Kmart and that book was in that Kmart and I picked it up and I opened that book. Now whenever I buy a book I never open it to the center of the book because there's no reason, you'd read the inside sleeve or the back cover to find out what the book's about. I opened this book to the dead center. The book was divided into two parts, and the second part has a big blank page in the front of it that says "He Walked With The Master - The Manuscript" - that's the page I opened it to! So as far as coming on the heels of Nick Bunick's story, in all actuality they came on about the same time, which goes to say that the book that was written about me was actually finished in 2000, and over the past seven years I've had to do a lot of other things, I got married and had a child and have been traveling the world doing USO shows, so there was a seven year hiatus there.

So as far as the messages are concerned, what my message is, and I say my message because I say it's the message I'm being told to give, is that we all can connect to the divine within ourselves. Each person has the opportunity to touch God every day. Religion, spirituality is not 2000 years ago, it's today, it's this moment, it's this is the moment that we're conscious. This is the moment that we can touch God. And people say how do you do that? It's very simple, it's actually very simple technique, and I say technique and that's kind of a weird word for it, but all it is, is to find love. People say well how do you find love? As I said before, joy is an aspect of love, any feeling that is joyful is loving. So if you can find that feeling that creates the smile on your face, you know we have this thing called a smile, you know your mouth makes that curved action but behind that smile is a feeling, a vibration and I am going to tell you, that in the regression when I saw Jesus on the beach, the feeling I felt from him was the feeling behind a smile. And so all of this can connect to that every day. We all have the potential to touch god every day, we all have the potential to actually be enlightened and that's the mission. Somebody asked me one time "Can we be your followers?" And I was like...first of all NO! Second of all, I don't want followers, I want people to step out and be leaders. Leaders in their own lives. Because it's not about religion at all, it's about finding the connection with God within your self, and what would overjoy me beyond all is if in ten years from now, everybody I had talked to was enlightened and they forgot my name. Because that is what I want! I would rather have all these people be enlightened than for me to have any sort of modicum of fame. Because that's not what its about. It's a life of service.

Holly: In this life of service, I know that one of your functions is to hold seminars or workshops around the country and I think people are going to want to know what your seminars are like, are there activities, do you just talk or what? A secondary question to that is what do you charge and why do you charge?

John: [laughs] That's a very interesting thing! As far as workshops around the country....I do speaking engagements where I tell a lot of stories, and the reason I tell the stories is that each one of those stories had a very personal message for me that I believe transcends just me. I believe that by using the modern day parable people can learn a lot, and so stories that have happened thus far actually have messages for everyone. The speaking engagements are that, the impetus for, now this is the money thing...I have been a professional entertainer for many years and what's happening is that as I step into my spiritual career more and more I am actually putting my other entertainment career aside so I can do more of this work. My speeches are...we charge for the speeches because that's how I make my living and pay my child support and those things that people need to do, and my rent and all those things, but what we do is, we do this speech the one night, the next day we open ourselves up for healings. We don't charge anything for healings. If people want to donate to that, that's fine, that money all goes to an eventual non-profit we are creating right now known as The Penial Foundation. It's designed specifically to bring people of all faiths together to share commonalities, celebrate our cultural differences and then combine to a larger humanitarian work around the world. As far as John Davis, John of New, John Davis needs to have speaking income to be able to survive. As far as John of Old, which is still me, it's just that's how I kind of define it right now, all of the healing work is free, and will never be charged for, ever. As far as where I go from here, any monies given to the Penial Foundation will always remain in The Penial Foundation and will be used for the humanitarian works, and if my income from speaking gets exorbitant, then a large portion of that will go into The Penial Foundation. I don't need or want to have fancy cars or giant houses, that's not who I am, never has been, never will be, but awakening people to themselves and helping the world is more about what I'm about.

Holly: Speaking of the healings that you were talking about earlier, how do you account for the healing? Explain what you feel that process is, where it's coming from, is it just energetic, is it prayerful. What do you do and how do you do it?

John: Well, what do I do and how do I do it? I step aside, I get out of the way. What happens in the situation is that I go there, or this person comes to me with some sort of ailment, it's not always the same in the way it happens. Sometimes I hold hands and I can hear the higher self conversation. Sometimes it just happens but every time what happens from my perspective as John Davis is I basically feel and am overwhelmed by the ecstasy of pure divine love, unconditional love, and I kind of sit over to the side and let that energy that love of God wash through into that person. I also feel energy being released from them. It goes into me and out through the top of my head, and it's kind of a give and take. They give and they take and God gives, and I sit there and I just kind of enjoy it all! Because for me it's a very blissful experience because I get to experience the love of God purely.

What they experience, I've heard lots of different experiences of what they...I've seen people whose eyes are closed and they see pure white light and I've seen people who've seen angels working around me. I've seen people who've seen Jesus standing behind me. As far as their experience, I can't comment on that too much because of the fact that I am literally just sitting aside and letting it happen. But I can say that the healings have been miraculous and it's got to be coming from some divines source.

Holly: Well, to wrap up, John, if there were one summarizing point that you want the listeners of this to get of your message, what do you think that summary would be?

John: Love one another, and remember that not only love one another but you are one of them, so you have to also love yourself. Because if you think about what a famous author once wrote, God is love, and if you don't get that, if all you have to do is find love in your heart, you will find love in your life, and it does not have to be boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife, it can be love of anything. Love a flower, love anything and feel that vibration of God, because once you've connected to it and you can find that place, you'll find it again. And you'll find it again. And miraculous things will happen in your life as you start to experience it on a daily basis.
